Home Learning

At The Thomas Alleyne Academy we believe the purpose of home learning is to:

• Consolidate and extend learning that has taken place during lessons

• Develop independent learning skills

• Develop time management skills

As teachers of The Thomas Alleyne Academy we will:

• Set home learning according to the home learning timetable

• Set tasks which will stimulate curiosity and the desire to learn

• Assess and give feedback on home learning on a regular basis

• Provide support for students to help them complete home learning tasks e.g. home learning club and library facilities

As students of The Thomas Alleyne Academy we expect them to:

• Write your home learning task in your planner

• Complete the task to the best of your ability

• Seek help and advice before the deadline

• Meet deadlines set

• Act upon the feedback given on the home learning task

During week 6 projects are marked and data entered onto our school management system. The data entered is a score of 1-7 following the home learning criteria All students successfully completing a home learning project will gain merits, students will also get the opportunity to receive postcards and in exceptional cases core-value badges. We encourage departments to display the best projects and at certain points in the year we will be organising events to celebrate successful work and share it with parents.
