Meet our staff

Head of Sixth Form Consortium: Mrs J Lewis

Mrs Lewis took up her role as Head of Sixth Form Consortium in August 2013 following many years working for the A Level department at North Hertfordshire College as a History teacher, Advanced Learning Practitioner and A level Coordinator. She has overall academic and pastoral responsibility for all A Level students at the Academy. Her first degree is in Early Modern History and her subsequent MA is in War Studies which has given her ample opportunity to teach a diverse history curriculum.

A Level Learning Coach: Ms E Pearce

Ms Pearce has responsibility for the academic and pastoral support of all A Level students at the Academy and also supervises the Extended Project Qualification. She has been a member of the A Level team at the Academy and North Hertfordshire College for over 2 years. Her Degree in History and MA in Eighteenth Century History and Literature have given her a strong foundation of academic experience that allow her to offer robust support to all A Level students and encourage them to aim high and pursue academic success. She has a range of industry experience, having previously worked in Recruitment, Human Resources and Organisation Development within the commercial sector. Her roles included Graduate Recruitment and responsibility for work experience placements and as a result she is highly involved in all employment and enrichment activities within Sixth Form. 

Key Stage 5 Curriculum Manager: Mrs G Newbery

KS5 Curriculum Manager: Mrs Newbery has worked at The Academy Sixth Form for over 10 years.  She has 10 years’ experience in the Legal Profession where she was employed as a Legal Executive representing clients at directorate level.  She is a qualified Higher Education/Careers Adviser and Tutor for both Year 12 and Year 13.  Each year she is responsible for guiding and supporting students into Higher Education.  Mrs Newbery is also qualified to deliver Apprenticeship advice and guidance leading to successful interviews and placements. As part of her continuing professional development she attends Higher Education and Employment Conferences throughout the year to keep abreast of changes in the curriculum and the employment market.  She organises the Enrichment Programme for each academic year with Outside Agencies and Outreach Partners thus enabling a broad spectrum of activities (including employability and study skills) to be delivered to our students.
