What is the title of this course?  AQA Home Economics and Child Development

What level of qualification will I gain at the end of the course?  Grades A* to G at GCSE

Parenthood
Pregnancy
Diet, Health and Care of the child
Development of the child
Support for the parent and child

What type of learning activities will I undertake?

You will experience a variety of learning activities. Parents visit the school with their babies and young children for you to observe and discuss their care. Health and care professionals provide sessions, so that you meet experts, and receive up to date information. You may also have visits to places of interest that are related to child care.

How will I be assessed?

You are required to complete two pieces of coursework which accounts for 60% of the final GCSE grade and sit an externally assessed examination which accounts for 40% of your final GCSE grade

What are the possible progression routes once I have this qualification?

If you want to progress to the sixth form you can take the Health and Social Care Subsidiary Diploma.
The study of child development will help you to gain confidence by developing independent learning skills which will help with further study or you can take into any career or job. The course is of particular interest if you want to pursue the study of child care beyond GCSE or progress to employment in child care.
