Re: VIP Guest Speaker Tom Toumazis, MBE – Wednesday 8th May 2019, 2.00 to 3.00 pm

We are delighted to announce that Mr Toumazis will be visiting our Academy on Wednesday 8th May 2019. Mr Toumazis will be speaking to students about careers in the highly competitive media and creative industries.

Mr Toumazis is a portfolio director, investor and adviser, focused in technology, media and the arts. He is a founder investor of three start-ups, Tagsmart, Fusebox Games and TVbeat as well as a Trustee of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and an external Director at PRS for Music. He is Chairman and Founder of the Childline Board, (part of the NSPCC). Mr Toumazis was awarded the MBE for services to children and in October 2018 appointed a Trustee of the NSPCCs Chair of the Childline Board for his contributions in helping to raise over £8 million for Childline. Childline has worked with TV shows such as ‘Downton Abbey, Britain's Got Talent, X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing, and I'm a Celebrity.’ He is a public speaker, sharing his work/life experiences and encouraging young people to explore careers in the world of media and entertainment.

Students who are genuinely interested in humanities subjects, particularly a career in arts, film, design or media are encouraged to attend. Should you wish your son/daughter to participate in this excellent enrichment opportunity, please complete the reply slip and return it to the sixth form office by no later than Friday 3rd May 2019. We expect that this will be a very popular presentation and in the interest of fairness, names will be entered into a ballot and chosen at random if oversubscribed. Places will not be secured on a ‘first come, first served,’ basis. Please be advised that places will be limited to 20 students. Should your child be successful they will be notified via their form tutors.
