Our Student Council has an influential and important voice in the development of our school.

Students from all year groups are represented on the parliament which is led by our Sixth Form Senior Student Team. The Council meet on a half-termly basis. Council members also get to attend monthly ‘Headteacher’s Question Time’ – an opportunity to ask the Head about any issues affecting students in the school.

In recent years the Student Council has been involved in shaping our school’s behaviour system, redesigning our new toilet facilities, making decisions about the use of monies raised from fundraising activities, launching a campaign against littering and contributing to a review of home learning at Thomas Alleyne’s.

The student body get to have a ‘voice’ regarding key matters in school such as:

  • Teaching and Learning

  • Health and Safety

  • External fundraising events within the community

  • Youth Conferences

  • Sixth Form

  • Anti-bullying

  • Academic mentoring

Representatives of the Student Council take turns in attending Governing Body meetings to represent the student voice. More recently they have also been requested to participate in the student panel interviews for new staff appointments and present their research for introducing tailored shorts for the Summer term.

They are a very important and integral group of young people who are passionate about learning, their school and their community.
